President Edgar Lungu says it is unnecessary for the country to be dragged into chaos over the outcome of the election results.
And President Lungu has urged party supporters to learn from him and UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema as they are not violent and have never engaged in any physical fight
The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has announced that campaigns for the August 12 general election will start tomorrow.
ECZ Chairperson says the campaign period will end on Wednesday August 11th 2021 ahead of the polls the next day.
Justice Chulu has however advised political parties to desist from holding rallies or gathering crowds.
Speaking during the launch of the electoral campaigns on ZNBC this evening, Justice Chulu said it is important to do away with rallies due to the current threat of the third wave of COVID-19.
He said politicians should show leadership by protecting citizens during the pandemic.
And Justice Chulu also disclosed that the commission will be engaging participating candidates vying for various electoral positions.
He further called on all stakeholders to play their part in ensuring a smooth build up to the General election.
