Printing of Presidential ballots for the August 12, 2021 General Election has been completed in DUBAI – the United Arab Emirates.
Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Senior Corporate Affairs Officer Sylvia Bwalya disclosed this at a media briefing in Dubai, today.
Ms. Bwalya said printing of ballots for Mayoral and Council Chairpersons is at 97 percent, while for the National Assembly is at 80 percent and Local Government is at 68 percent.
She said overall printing of ballots in all election types is standing at 88 percent.
And ECZ Commissioner Ali Simwinga reiterated the electoral body’s commitment to delivering a free, fair and credible election.
Mr. Simwinga also thanked stakeholders monitoring the printing process in Dubai for their unwavering commitment to the task.
And the Non-Governmental Gender Organisations Co-ordinating Council says the completion of the printing of the Presidential ballots is encouraging and should galvanize Zambians to take part in the electoral process by ensuring they turn out to vote.
NGOCC Executive Director, Engwase Mwale who is among stakeholders monitoring the printing of ballots also urged women who are the majority voters to exercise their right to vote.
ALGHURAIR Printing and Publishing company has been contracted by ECZ to print ballots for the forthcoming General Election.
The company is expected to complete the printing and stacking of the ballots by the end of this month.
