The government has given the Kafulafuta dam project in the Masaiti District new approval.
The project has been in limbo for years, according to Water Development and Sanitation Minister MIKE MPOSHA, because of government debt defaults.
He claims, however, that the Ministry of Finance has authorized more than US$7 million to allow the contractor to pick up where they left off.
Today in Lusaka, Mr. MPHOSHA made the statement.
According to him, the government has already invested more than 280 million US dollars in the project, whose 87 percent completion rate is on track to be reached by the end of 2023.
Mr. MPOSHA added that his ministry will also put up 80 piped water systems, repair numerous dams across the nation, and drill 170 boreholes this year.
