On suspicion that she was having an with her husband, a 26-year-old woman of Ndola with the help of her young sister is said to have confronted her best friend, beat her up and inserted an iron bar in her private parts.
The two sisters are now in court answering to charges of indecent assaulting.
It is alleged that while acting together Delphister Malasa, a housewife and her 20-year-old sister
Sarah Malasa, a Grade 12 pupil willfully and unlawfully indecently assaulted a fellow woman.
The duo who are both residents of Kabushi Township in Ndola on the Copperbelt are said to have committed the crime on Tuesday last week.
The court heard that upon learning of a relationship between her husband and her best friend, Delphister in the company of her younger sister, Sarah went to the victim’s house, accosted and started beating her.
Delphister and Sarah are then said to have undressed the victim, removed her underwear and inserted an iron bar in her private parts.
When the matter came up in court the duo pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Changa Chitabo granted the duo K100, 000 bail in their own recognizance, implying that they will be required to pay the amount should they skip bail.
This was after they applied for bail.
Meanwhile magistrate Chitabo ordered the State to take Sarah for an age determination exercise.
This was after he rejected the age of 20 which appeared on the indictment.
The matter has been adjourned to July 1, 2020 for commencement of trial.
