Here is All you need to know about Somizi’s new Champopo

On Sunday the 1st of December Maison Mumm hosted the third and final installment of its #MummBrunch series at the luxury Maslow Hotel, in Sandton. Somizi, who has frequently collaborated with France’s number one champagne brand, unveiled his new limited-edition bottle, in partnership with G.H. Mumm. It has also been revealed that champagne lovers and Somizi fans can get their own bottles personally signed by the entertainer over the festive season.

G.H. Mumm has always taken the bold approach and is well aligned with what Somizi embodies; an audacious and daring personality with a refined taste for victory. Somizi recently made a trip to the home of G.H. Mumm in the Champagne region of France and teased he would soon announce his #causeforcelebration. The G.H. MummxSomizi Limited Edition bottle which was revealed at the intimate brunch is his cause for celebration and is not only a great stride for Somizi who’s successes keep mounting but for the champagne brand that loves to make historic moves.

The reveal of the elegant limited edition bottle sporting the iconic red sash and Somizi’s signature, following the launch of Usain Bolts bottle launch in 2019. This collaboration is globally marked as a history-making moment for the African continent as it is the first ever collaboration of its kind, honoring our very own local personality – Somizi Mhlongo.

Delivering his speech in the presence of some of South Africa’s most daring and successful figures such as respected businesswoman Basetsana Khumalo, real estate maverick TT Mbatha, successful boutique owner Athania Mothiba, businesswoman turned reality TV queen Evodia Mogase and of course, his husband Mohale Motaung Mhlongo, Somizi spoke about living the life he has always imagined. “I have a taste for the luxury things in life. I have always spoken to the universe to say I belong here, I belong in the world of bubbles, ” he told guests.

Renowned event manager, Precious the Planner, created an ambience fitting for the memorable occasion in the bold and striking red and white theme while Executive Chef of the Maslow Hotel, Mzwandile Mnyayiza, prepared an exquisite culinary offering. G.H. Mumm Brand Ambassador, Marie Sivestre, ensured guests got the best of the brunch experience by pairing the food with the ideal G.H. Mumm champagne variant.

Leaving the star of the day for last, the glamorous guests were first served the Usain Bolt co-created Olymp? Rose paired with a Pan Seared Salmon starter. The main course, Lemon Garlic Cray Fish, was enjoyed with Maison Mumm’s signature Grand Cordon brut, while the dessert, the Chocolate Dome, was served moments after the big reveal and paired with the G.H. MummxSomizi Limited Edition Demi-sec which is Somizi’s favourite champagne variant.

Somizi went on to thank G.H. Mumm for giving him this first of its kind collaboration platform and he thanked his guests, who continued to cheer loudly for him during the reveal and speech, for their continued support.

The G.H. MummxSomizi Limited Edition bottle is available exclusively at Makro stores in Woodmead, Crown Mines and Centurion in Gauteng.
