The Queen” has been Mzansi Magic’s flagship show for years as it dominated the channel’s charts as the most-watched show. Although it has encountered many hurdles off-screen, the show continues to garner viewership.

However, recently iHarare speculated the salaries of the actors. These salaries might be an indication as to why some of our favorites might stay on the soapie, despite the alleged drama behind the scenes. “The Queen” of late has had more drama behind the scenes, than tweeps would suggest it has in front of the camera.

The biggest of those scandals is the soapie’s drainage of its many beloved and favorite actors. First, was the departure of Rami Chuene who played TGOM, Gracious Mabuza. Second, came the axing of Dineo Moeketsi who played the character of Kea Khoza. Their departure was filled with drama as more cast members came out with various allegations of exploitation, mostly which were sparked by the open letter by actress, Vatiswa Mdara.

Most of the disgruntled former actors from the soapie departed from the soapie due to matters of unfair pay. However, it seems that those that have stayed and new recruits have been lured by the paycheck that came with their joining of the soapie. Below are some of the speculated highest-paid actors on the soapie.

The lowest-paid actor of the lead cast revealed by the publication is speculated to be Thembsie Matu, who plays the character of Patronellah, she is estimated to earn between R20 000.00 to R25 000.00.

Second above her, are the estimated salaries of Loyiso McDonald and Zandile Msutwana. The actors play Kagiso Khoza and Vuyiswa Maake respectively. The two are set to earn monthly a takeaway salary of R30 000.00 to R35 000.00 each. The salary is suggested as the average that many of its leading cast like Themba Ndaba, Zenande Mfenyana, and SK Khoza also take away monthly.

However, when it comes to the matter of the top tier actors, especially the new recruits, the suggestion is that they added a little extra to sweeten the deal. The new recruits include the likes of actor, Brenda Ngxoli, which many have questioned her role and relevance on the soapie. Some have gone as considering this her most luke-warm character; an insult considering her experience.

Additionally, other actors like Jessica Nkosi, Rapulana Seiphemo, and Ntando Duma. The aforementioned are to take away anything between R40 000.00 to R50 000.00 monthly. The only person whose salary is undisclosed is lead, Connie Ferguson, who is also a co-executive producer for the soapie. But it only takes looking at “The Queen” to know that she is rolling in it.
