Three members of one house perish

Three persons from the same house drown while attempting to cool down in the stream at Ntumba Chushi Falls

A 28-year-old woman from Luapula tragically lost her husband, sister, and cousin all on the same day after they perished in the Ntumba Chushi falls stream, where they had gone to cool off from the sweltering sun.

Aaron Kasapula, a teacher from a reputable secondary school in the neighborhood, his cousin Nsofwa Eneya, 18, and sister Musangu Esther, 12, all drowned while swimming, according to Kasongo Chama.

Police in Zambia were notified of a drowning that had occurred yesterday at 11:00 a.m., according to police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.

“Brief facts of the matter are that the reporter Ms Chama went to Ntumba Chushi falls with her husband , sister and cousin for pleasure. They later started bathing in Ntumba Chushi stream and in the process Esther , the now deaceasd, who is also her sister drowned and then her husband Mr Kapasula rushed to try and rescue her and also drowned. Afterwards, her cousin, Ms Nsofwa saw them drowning and also went to try and rescue them and in the process also drowned,” he said.

When the police arrived on the scene, according to Mr. Hamoonga, they were able to recover the three remains and bring them to the mortuary for the Kawambwa district where they will be buried.
