Boxer PATRICK CHINYEMBA has progressed to the round of 16 of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games after winning 4-1 via split points decision against Australian ALEX WINWOOD.
CHINYEMBA took to the ring against WINWOOD in a three-round flyweight fight.
He has since become the second Zambian boxer at the ongoing Olympics to qualify to the round of 16, joining Welterweight STEPHEN ZIMBA who beat MARION AH TONG of Samoa on unanimous points on Saturday.
And National Olympic Committee of Zambia President ALFRED FOLOKO has congratulated CHINYEMBA, stating that he is happy with the result.
And Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Manager CHRISTOPHER MALUNGA has urged the country’s boxers to remain focused as they ahead to the round of 16.
MALUNGA told ZNBC Sports in an interview that it is gratifying for the boxers to progress after facing tough opponents in the round of 32.
He has however implored the three Athletes to keenly take the advice of Coach WISDOM MUDENDA if they are to win in their next bouts.
