The Turkish Government has donated relief hampers for 1-thousand families affected by floods in Lusaka’s Kanyama and Chawama Compounds and Chibombo district during the 2020- 2021 rain season.
This has been done through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU.
And receiving the donation, Minister in the Vice President’s Office Olipa Phiri said the gesture will go a long way to help flood victims.
She said Turkey and Zambia have had a very good bilateral relationship.
Ms Phiri said the Turkish government has assisted Zambia in sectors such as Education, Health and Agriculture.
Earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Vice President’s office Stephen Mwansa noted that the donation has consolidated the relation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Zambia, Istem Circiroglu said her Government shall continue to support Zambia’s developmental Agenda.
Ms. Circiroglu also disclosed that Turkish Cargo flights will now begin flying to Zambia every week.
