Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers has challenged those opposing the debt swap initiative by the Zambian Government to offer constructive criticism and not just oppose.
Union President MUYAYWA KABISA says politicising the debt swap initiative is discrediting the efforts of trade unions and their efforts to improve the livelihood of civil servants.
Mr KABISA says the debt swap initiative is a good program aimed at lessening the financial burden of civil servants, hence the need to support it. Speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mr KABISA further appealed to the government to expedite the process.
Meanwhile, the Secondary School Teachers Union of Zambia -SESTUZ- Secretary-General WAMUYUWA SITIBEKISO says the union has welcomed the initiative as it is a game-changer for civil servants.
Mr SITIBEKISO says the union is happy because the initiative is a creation of the trade unions. He further urged people not to politicise the initiative as it is not a political matter.
