UPND refutes claims of extorting money from former permanent secretaries

The UPND Alliance has refuted claims that it is extorting money from former permanent secretaries in exchange for their protection from prosecution.

Alliance media director Thabo Kawana says there is UPND Alliance partner who has authority to protect anyone who has stolen public funds from being prosecuted.

Mr. Kawana says the individual, who made the said accusation against UPND alliance partners, independent Lumezi lawmaker Munir Zulu, must be put to a test.

He says the Alliance challenges the independent lawmaker to prove his allegations.

Mr. Kawana was speaking at a media briefing held in Lusaka.

And the UPND alliance media director has warned the independent Lumezi lawmaker to be wary that he risks being sued for defamation if he continues to make unsubstantiated allegations at the time he is not enjoying Parliamentary immunity.

Lumezi lawmaker Munir Zulu has insisted that some UPND alliance partners are extorting money from Permanent Secretaries that served in the previous government with a promise to protect them from prosecution.

Mr. Zulu has told ZNBC news in a telephone interview that he is ready to expose those extorting money from the said former Permanent Secretaries.
