The government of the United States claims that Zambia is currently a world leader in good governance.
The recently appointed US ambassador to Zambia, MIKE GONZALES, claims that due to the respect for democracy and the rule of law, Zambia’s democracy is now recognized on a global scale.
According to Mr. Gonzales, the election of President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA last year provided him an unambiguous public mandate through a democratic process.
When he presented his credentials to President HICHILEMA at the State House this morning, the new US envoy made this statement.
After the departure of his predecessor DANIEL FOOTE, who was declared Persona Non Grata in January 2020, he becomes the first US Ambassador to be assigned to Zambia.
Additionally, President HICHILEMA stated that Zambia has always counted on the United States as a reliable ally.
He claimed that Zambia needed greater assistance, particularly in the renegotiation of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) program, which grants access for Zambian goods to the USA.
