VEEP Criticizes Provincial Governments

The Provincial administrations have been urged by Vice President Mutete Nalumango to build connections that will draw in investment.

Almost all Provinces have conducted investment forums and expositions, but only a small number of investment pledges have materialized into genuine firms, according to Mrs. NALUMANGO.

Mrs. NALUMANGO urged the Muchinga Provincial administration to make sure the expo produces noticeable benefits while speaking at the launch of the Muchinga Province investment forum and Expo 2023 website in Lusaka yesterday evening.

She claimed that through generating employment and revenue for Zambians, the Expos serve to promote social and economic development.

The investment expo, according to Minister of Commerce, Trade, and Industry CHIPOKA MULENGA, is in line with the Ministry’s responsibility to encourage trade and investment.

The government aspires to develop a private sector led economy, and the Expo provides links for the private sector, Mr. MULENGA stated in a speech read for him by Acting Permanent Secretary NALITUBA MWALE of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry.

The Expo, which is set for October of next year, is already luring investment from a number of firms, according to Muchinga Province Minister HENRY SIKAZWE.

Chief CHIKWANDA added that in order to fight for the fulfillment of investment agreements, traditional leaders must work with the government.
