Zambia and Botswana have signed the bilateral agreement for the operationalization of the One-Stop Border Post ahead of the commissioning of the Kazungula bridge project by President Edgar Lungu and his Botswana counterpart Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma has signed on behalf of Zambia while Botswana Minister of Finance and Economic Development Peggy Serame has signed for her country at a ceremony that was held at the Kazungula bridge today.
And Mr. Yaluma says the agreement shows how Zambia and Botswana can work together in an exceptional manner to achieve greater goals.
Mr. Yaluma says the border post will no doubt benefit the two countries economically.
He has also implored operating agencies at the border post to also give a better passage to small-scale cross-border traders.
Mr. Yaluma says this is because the small-scale traders also contribute to economic development.
Meanwhile, Ms. Serame said the Kazungula bridge project is testimony to the ever increasing scope and scale of cooperation which Zambia and Botswana enjoy.
President Edgar Lungu and his Botswana counterpart Mokgweetsi Masisi are expected to commission the Kazungula Bridge project this May
