Zambia sets up National Command Centre to monitor citizens1

The safe city national command centre in Lusaka under the Ministry of home affairs is slowly taking shape.

Once fully operational, the command centre will provide security wings with real-time information and insights of what is happening in and around the cities.Zambia sets up National Command Centre to monitor citizens
The Zambia Police Service has less than 25,000 police officers against the population of close to 18 million people.

Therefore, the centre is expected to assist the police service to keep an eye around the city of Lusaka and surrounding cities across Zambia.

The number of officers employed cannot match the increasing population and this system will bridge the gap and it is not meant to shrink the privacy of citizens but to enhance security.
