The Zambian government has announced that effective 27th December, 2021 the country will start vaccinating children above 12years old against Covid-19 using the Pfizer vaccine.
The start of children’s vaccination will coincide with the start of the administration of booster shots for people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says the decisions were arrived at through the Council of Ministers Chaired by the Vice President, Mutale Nalumango.

Ms. Masebo says the booster shots role out will commence with Health workers followed by the elderly and those with underlining illnesses and those who are due and willing to boost their immunity.

She says Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca are the vaccines that will be used as boosters.
Meanwhile, the country has recorded 3,380 new cases of Covid19 out of 13,341 tests conducted, while 3 people have died.
