Zambia wins AU award. Zambia has been awarded by the African Union for its role in the fight against corruption.
The Score Card Awards are given annually and this years’ recognition of Zambia by the African Union was for the country’s progress made in mainstreaming gender in the fight against corruption.
The award themed “Winning the Fight against Corruption; A Sustainable and Gender Equitable Path to Africa’s Transformation” was received by Minister of Gender Elizabeth Phiri on behalf of President Edgar Lungu.
President Lungu has appointed to key positions women such as Vice President Inonge Wina, Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe, Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima and Clerk of the National Assembly Cecilia Mbewe.
Others are Drug Enforcement Commission head Alita Mbhawe and Financial Intelligence Centre director Mary Chirwa.
