Zambian poet wins Scotland poetry slam

ZAMBIAN POET, Musenga Katongo, has raised the country’s flag advanced after winning his alternate transnational poetry slam( competition) held in Scotland.

The Colour Culture trades author won the Leith vs the World Slam held in Edinburgh, Scotland, after beating six other rivals through an impressively drafted lyric named “ Same Walk, New Adventure ”.

In 2019, Katongo, a spoken word artiste and entrepreneur, took part in his first transnational slam dubbed, the Intwasa Poetry Slam, which was part of the Intwasa trades Festival held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where he surfaced victorious.

The University of Zambia graduate was transferred to Scotland by Barefeet Theatre alongside fellow Zambian artist, Stanslous Kundelungu, as part of a 3 month youth programme completely funded through the European Commission’s Erasmus Capacity Building in the Field of Youth Programme.
