ZAMSTATS board of directors unveiled

National Development Planning Minister Alexander Chiteme has tasked the Zambia Statistics Agency -ZAMSTATS- to prepare adequately for the November National Census if the desired results are to be achieved.

The National Census is scheduled to start on 1st November 2021.

Mr. Chiteme says the statistical reform process calls for stakeholder sensitisation, change management and sustained staff capacity.

He says this will be the first e-census for the country and ZAMSTATS has exhibited good capacity to ensure that the country achieves its target.

The Minister was speaking when he unveiled the first ever ZAMSTATS Board of Directors today.

Mr. Chiteme said the team was carefully selected to bring to the table unique skills and experiences that will be of value to the Act and functioning of ZAMSTATS.

Meanwhile, ZAMSTATS Board Chairperson Charles Mpundu said his team has got a huge task ahead to ensure the right population figures are presented to the public.

Mr. Mpundu said he has confidence in the team he has been given to lead because of the vast experiences.

Meanwhile, United Nations Population Fund -UNFPA- Country Representative Gift Malunga handed over 2 thousand 1 hundred and 10 bicycles to ZAMSTATS to support preparations for the census.

Ms. Malunga said the UN family has also committed itself to come on board with more support when called upon by Government or any of its departments.
