Zamtel opens more customer service centers

Zamtel says it has continued with its ambitious plan of rolling out additional Customer Service Centres across the country.

Zamtel Acting Chief Commercial Officer Keith Banda said the firm is implementing a programme to increase its retail footprint as a way of improving access to its products and services.

Zamtel’s Cutsomer Service Centers are targeted at providing convenience and serve as one-stop facility to consumers across several residential and commercial areas.

The stores have been designed to reflect international retail standards, emphasise convenience and ease of access as well as an appealing retail environment.

Mr Banda said through this programme, Zamtel is also creating job opportunities for local people.

He said well over 80 new Customer Service Centres have been opened in several parts of the country which has created hundreds of jobs.

Mr Banda said the opening of new Customer Service Centres has also provided business opportunities for entrepreneurs who have partnered with Zamtel in running the Service Centres.

“At the moment we are the fastest growing organization in terms of retail presence and the reason is simple, we have to take Zamtel to where the customer is. We have the best network with clearest calls but the complaint from our customers had been that we have not broadened our presence and that is what we are addressing with this roll out,” Mr Banda said.

He was speaking on Monday when Zamtel officially opened its Customer Service Centre at Kaunda Square Stage 2 market in Lusaka.

Kaunda Square Stage 2 is one of the busiest residential areas in Lusaka, and host to a wide range of economic activities, including commerce, trade and industry.

He added, “we are strategically placing these Centers in market areas and other strategic locations because we want to tap into the unique business potential of such places. We are also partnering with local Zambian entrepreneurs by giving them a chance to run these businesses in their localities,” he said.

Mr Banda has since thanked customers for their continued support and assured that Zamtel’s key focus was to cater to customer needs by ensuring that its products are accessible, affordable and readily available to them.
