People without a live facial image on their SIM cards run the risk of having their registrations cancelled, according to a ZICTA (Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority) warning.
HANFORD CHAABA, Manager of Corporate Affairs for ZICTA, states that this is true whether or not the applicant has previously registered using a National Registration Card (NRC).
According to Mr. CHAABA, the requirement for live facial images is necessary to strengthen security against crimes involving mobile money.
He claims that the authority has begun sending notification messages to people whose SIM card registration is missing the said feature through mobile service providers.
