A 25-year-old male from the Chikankata District is accused of raping an 83-year-old woman.
The incident happened in the village of Chinyona Muchila on December 25, 2022, between 2:00 and 3:00.
The woman’s neighbors, who heard her yelling for help, caught the suspect, John Munyeke, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.
According to police inquiries, the suspect entered the victim’s home between 2:00 and 2:00 a.m. and forced himself onto her. In the house, she was by herself, he claimed.
The victim is currently receiving medical care at Chikankata Mission Hospital, according to Mr. Mwale, while the culprit is being held in police custody.
