In the Petauke district, five fish ponds totaling more than 120,000 Kwacha have been constructed.
In the Mbala ward, next to the Lusowe Dam, the Petauke Town Council’s fishpond project has been installed.
The project would eventually be implemented in all wards within the district, according to Petauke Council Chairperson EDWARD BANDA.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. BANDA stated that it is anticipated that the local authority will competently instruct farmers on fish farming thanks to the expertise gained from the fish project in the Mbala ward.
According to him, the local government wants to see farmers switch from growing maize and sunflowers to aquaculture.
