The nomination of additional judges by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, according to the Institute of Law, Policy Research and Human Rights, will NOT only improve justice but also lessen the backlog of cases.
According to Institute Acting Executive Director JAMESON KACHIMWA, this will further the administration of justice.
According to a statement from Mr. KACHIMWA to ZNBC News, the Institute is hopeful that the remaining openings in the various courts will be filled soon.
In addition to congratulating the newly appointed judges, Mr. KACHIMWA, who doubles as the deputy executive director, also welcomed the promotion of the other justices to the appellate courts, subject to approval by the National Assembly.
Professor MARGARET MUNALULA was chosen by President HICHILEMA to lead the Constitutional Court yesterday.
Subject to confirmation, Justice MUNALULA will succeed HILDA CHIBOMBA, who resigned last year.
In addition, the positions of Mr. MUDFORD MWANDENGA, Judges MARIA KAWIMBE and KENNETH MULIFE, and Deputy President Mr. ARNOLD SHILIMI have been filled.
