Chilufya Tayali, 48, of House Number 38 Ngwezi Road in Roma Township, was been detained by Lusaka police for using hate speech.
This relates to recent comments he is said to have made and published on social media channels where he allegedly referenced some traditional heads and Commanders from the Defence and Security wings.
The comments, according to police assistant public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi, are reported to have been uttered between January 1 and January 29 of this year.
“In a similar incident, Police have apprehended Christopher Kapita aged 54 a Taxi Driver of Lusaka for the offence of Giving False Information to a Public Officer Contary Section 125 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. This occurred on January 29,2023 in Lusaka,” Mr Chilabi said.
He said the suspects are detained in police custody awaiting to be formally charged.
