The government has been urged by the Agricultural Technical and Professional Union of Zambia (ATPSUZ) to hire additional agriculture extension officers to help small-scale farmers with their problems.
The 256 Agriculture Extension Officers the government plans to hire, according to Union General Secretary JESTONE NONDE, are insufficient.
However, Mr. NONDE has praised the government for the action, calling it a positive development.
But he suggested that the government hire thousands of extension officers, much as it did in the health and education fields.
