According to Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa, the government is worried about some courts within the legal system that impose onerous and challenging requirements for bail.
The conditions under which a court order, such as bail, should be granted are at the discretion of the courts, according to Mr. MWEETWA, but this discretion should be exercised within the bounds of judicial reasonableness.
This was said by the minister of the Southern Province at the formal commencement of the high court’s criminal session in Livingstone.
The judge-in-charge of the Livingstone High Court, CHILOMBO MAKA, also expressed his satisfaction that the judge’s home, as well as the eagerly anticipated renovations of the Livingstone High Court and Subordinate court, had been started.
