Zambian rapper Bomb$hell Grenade has joined the national conversation following President Hakainde Hichilema’s re-election, sharing a message filled with congratulations, hope and a gentle reminder about the responsibility that comes with another term in office.
The award-winning musician took to Instagram to celebrate Hichilema’s victory after he secured a second five-year mandate as Zambia’s president.
“Congratulations to His Excellency, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, on his re-election as President of the Republic of Zambia,” Bomb$hell wrote.
However, the message went beyond simply celebrating an election result. The rapper also wished Hichilema strength, wisdom and vision as he prepares to continue leading the country.
“May this new mandate bring renewed strength, wisdom and vision as you continue serving the Zambian people,” she added.
Bomb$hell Grenade calls for unity and progress
Bomb$hell’s message arrived at a sensitive moment for Zambia. Although the election delivered Hichilema a decisive victory, the campaign and counting process were accompanied by political tension, isolated violence and accusations from the opposition.

Nevertheless, many households continue to feel the pressure of high living costs and energy shortages. Those daily challenges became major issues during the election campaign and helped the opposition attract stronger support than some observers expected.
Mundubile rejected the result and indicated that the opposition would challenge it in court. Therefore, the political debate surrounding the election may continue even as Hichilema prepares for his second term.
The president has promised to serve all Zambians, including people who did not vote for him.

Bomb$hell Grenade, whose real name is Sophie Bwalya Chibesakunda, is one of Zambia’s most recognisable female hip-hop artists.
She has built a career through music, fashion, acting and public advocacy. Her achievements include winning the Best Female Rapper in Africa award at the 2021 African Muzik Magazine Awards.
In 2025, she also received an Emerging Female Artist in Africa award. Around the same period, Bomb$hell spoke openly about her experience with postnatal depression and encouraged women to seek support instead of suffering silently.
