The National Heart Hospital in Lusaka has been contacted by Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club’s medical staff to provide assistance if necessary after former footballer Enock Mwepu experienced a medical scare as a result of his heart issue.

Mwepu, the club’s under-9s coach, is reported to have passed out while driving along Lusaka’s Great North Road and was taken to the hospital.

The teenage player had to retire last year after a heart problem was discovered, but the club offered him a job coaching the under 9s.

Brighton & Hove Albion FC announced in a post that it is unable to offer any information at this time regarding Mwepu’s health.

The club, however, expressed gratitude to well-wishers for their notes and encouragement for Mwepu.

“Enock was taken unwell in Zambia and is currently undergoing precautionary checks.

Our medical team is in communication with the hospital to assist if required. The club would like to thank the many well wishers for their messages and support. The club nor Enock wish to provide any further comment at this stage,” stated the posting by the club.
