PRECIOUS Kaunda, a six-year-old Kawambwa girl who was chased out of class by her preschool instructor and then discovered dead, has been laid to rest.
Precious has been buried, according to Gloria Mulele, the commanding officer of the Luapula province, although inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death remain open.
Precious was sent out of class after beginning to cry, according to teacher Esther Nanyangwe, 35, who works at Mpota Primary School, according to Ms. Mulele, who claimed the police have recorded her warning and caution testimony as part of the investigations.
“The police have taken a warn and caution statement from the teacher and investigations in the matter have continued. The girl has been buried,”said Ms Mulele.
While out fishing, three lads discovered the body of the Precious floating in the river.
According to Ms. Mulele, Kaunda’s body was discovered floating and in a decomposing state by Jealous Musonda, Lupambo Katepa, and Pathias Mubanga.
“Upon receiving the report the police rushed to the scene of the crime and found the body floating by the river side and managed to retrieve the body. The police conducted a search within the scene of the crime and found a school bag, underway, shoes, a pencil, a pair of socks and also struggling marks,” Ms Mulele said.
She claimed that after a physical examination of Precious’s body, the police discovered that her lower and upper lips, as well as a portion of her nose and her private area, had been removed.
