George Mwanza, the mayor of Chipata, has lamented the disrepair of the majority of the city’s roads that go to neighborhoods with dense populations.
Some feeder roads, according to Mr. Mwanza, were last maintained 15 years ago and are currently in poor condition.
According to him, the local government’s budget for this year includes K13.4 million for road rehabilitation.
According to Mr. Mwanza, the funds would be utilized to repair the city’s most important roads.
Some roads, according to him, would be improved to bituminous levels.
The budget for Chipata City Council for this year is K125 million.
