According to JAMESON MBALE, chair of the International Conference for Information and Communications Technologies (ICICT), various university-based research needs to be translated into projects with a marketable outcome.
According to Professor MBALE, the nation has the potential and ability to commercialize research results.
However, he asserts that the usage of technical transfer offices is necessary by tertiary institutions.
In an interview with ZNBC News on the sidelines of the International Conference for Information and Communications Technologies in Lusaka, Professor MBALE stated that the majority of research results are excellent and should be commercialized.
There is a need to close the gap between business and academia, according to CLEMENT SINYANGWE, president of the Information Communication Technology Association of Zambia.
It is intolerable, according to Mr. SINYANGWE, that many worthwhile projects at universities are simply put on hold.
