In his lawsuit challenging the legitimacy of the Financial Crimes Court, former LUSAKA Province Minister BOWMAN LUSAMBO has filed a request with the Constitutional Court on behalf of the state.
The Attorney General’s Chamber has argued that the case has no chance of success because the constitution legally supports the creation of the Financial Crimes Court.
The Attorney General’s Chamber has charged Mr. LUSAMBO with attempting to halt criminal proceedings against himself by using a civil lawsuit challenging the Financial Crimes Court’s authority.
This information is found in an affidavit that Chief State Advocate JOE SIMACHELA submitted in opposition to Mr. LUSAMBO’s petition.
In a previous petition, Mr. LUSAMBO argued that it is unlawful to create the Financial Crimes Court without specifying its membership.
Additionally, Mr. LUSAMBO claimed that particular people are the target of the Financial Crime Court’s establishment.
