A United Apostolic Meyu Urishi Church evangelist was praying for a 20-year-old Soweto township resident when she passed away.
Eness Mulambya’s body was discovered with burns on both hands and the face, and it is thought that she passed out as Evangelist Advent Njovu was praying for her.
After her mother reported weird hallucinations for about three days, the victim was taken for prayers, and the evangelist injected some salty solution, which caused her to collapse.
When confirming the event to Mwebantu, Central Province Commissioner David Chileshe claimed it happened on Saturday at about 0:00.
“It is alleged that the Evangelist administered some salty solution on the deceased as she was being prayed for when she collapsed and died. The deceased was taken for prayers after the mother identified an unusual hallucination behaviour in her for about three days. The body was found with burns on both hands and one cheek. The Evangelist was detained facing manslaughter charges and the body of the deceased is lying in Kapiri Mposhi Urban clinic mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.
