Chelsea has made a proposal of 120 million euros (£105.6 million) for Benfica’s Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez, which would make him the most expensive signing in British transfer history.
No indication has been given as of yet as to whether the Blues’ offer, which is rumored to involve installments, will be accepted.
It would surpass the £100 million Manchester City spent Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021, though, if the deal goes through.
During Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar, Fernandez was voted the competition’s young player of the year.
Previously, Roger Schmidt, the manager of the Portuguese team Benfica, said that Chelsea was attempting to dislodge Fernandez.
However, it’s unlikely that the Premier League team would have submitted a new offer if there had been no indication that it may be accepted.
