TWO agricultural workers in Lufwanyama deceived their employer by taking his livestock and selling it to their Chinese customer.
The farm caretaker Yona Kakingila and his coworker Chilekwa Munkonge are accused of robbing their boss Dickson Ikuma of a goat and two sheep worth K4500.
Moses Chishimba, who detected odd transactions involving a Chinese national and the accused two, is credited by the police with discovering the stock theft scheme.
“Mr Chishimba became suspicious when he saw the two with an unknown Chinese national making transactions of the sale of the animals in the absence of the owner.The matter was reported to Lufwanyama police station and the two suspects were apprehended at Mpopo area where they were found drinking beer using the money raised from the sale and K 1, 300 cash has been recovered from the suspects. Copperbelt Police Commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said.
Mr Mweemba said a docket was opened, the scene visited and arrest made. Efforts to recover the sheep and goat from the unknown Chinese national are underway as he is believed to be a resident of Kitwe,” Mr Mwemba said.
