Government Paying Off Education Contractors’ K347 Million Debt, Saykalima

The government has begun paying off debt to contractors in the education sector totaling more than K347 million.

According to the development, contractors who had abandoned construction projects have returned to their locations, according to Education Minister DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA.

Additionally, Mr. Syakalima claims that the government plans to build 20 secondary schools gradually all around the nation.

Today in Lusaka at the quarterly press conference, Mr. SYAKALIMA also revealed that his ministry had paid out K74 million to repair flood-damaged school infrastructure.

This is being done in stages, he claimed.

And Mr. SYAKALIMA has warned teachers who act unethically and unprofessionally that they will face harsh disciplinary action.

The Minister stated that disciplinary action will be taken against the two teachers who were recently caught on camera drinking in Kasama.

The purchase of sanitary pads for 80,000 female students, according to Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary in charge of administration NORIANA MUNEKU, is nearly finished.

Around a million pads are currently being distributed nationwide, according to Ms. MUNEKU’s ministry.
