The government is collaborating with many stakeholders to lower the cost of mealie meal, according to Vice President Mutete Nalumango.
According to Mrs. NALUMANGO, the administration is making serious efforts to address the issue of the nation’s expensive mealie meal.
Mrs. NALUMANGO claimed there is no justification for a 25 kilogram bag of mealie meal to cost K 200 when millers have access to maize through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), in remarks made on the sidelines of the commencement of the Lusaka Cleaning and Drainage Clearing campaign.
In order to determine whether stores where consumers purchase the commodities are to blame for the elevated mealie meal pricing, Mrs. NALUMANGO said there has to be serious discussions with Millers.
