The government claims that it wants to hire additional agricultural extension agents due to the rising demand for their services from the nation’s farmers.
Government officials hope to hire additional extension farmers in order to equalize the number of extension workers to farmers, according to Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary GREEN MBOZI.
He claims that in order to overcome the difficulties farmers have accessing information, the government requires new strategies and processes.
According to Mr. MBOZI, the ministry has begun buying equipment to enhance the extension officers’ service delivery.
Furthermore, the Agriculture Technical and Profession Staff Union of Zambia (ATPSUZ) requested the government to enhance extension officers’ welfare.
Extension agents, according to ATPSUZ General Secretary Jestone Ponde, instill knowledge in farmers, which is essential for the growth of the agricultural industry.
