According to Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development ELIAS MUBANGA, the government is committed to fostering the expansion of start-ups and MSMEs.

During the 2022 African Start-Up Conference in Algeria, Mr. MUBANGA informed a group of African ministers that the government is now working on the Startup Bill and the MSMEs Policy.

When the Startup Bill is put into effect, he claimed, Zambia will have a thriving startup environment, which will encourage local participation, particularly among young innovators.

The Minister stated that among other things, the policy will address the market opportunities, the business development services, and the innovation and technology capability of MSMEs.

Both of these documents, he claimed, are intended to improve the environment in which startups and MSMEs can operate.
