Mulambo Haimbe

In preparation for upcoming elections, the government, according to Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE, intends to further strengthen the electoral rules.

According to Mr. HAIMBE, the government intends to strengthen the laws that would ensure the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s (ECZ) independence.

He was reacting to NWANNE OMINYI EZE, the ambassador of Nigeria to Zambia, who had stated that his nation admired Zambia for holding the general elections of 2021 with such success.

At this time, the Nigerian ambassador made him a courtesy visit.

According to Mr. HAIMBE, Zambia is eager to learn from Nigeria, which recently passed its electoral law for 2022 in preparation for its general elections in February of the following year.

And Mr. HAIMBE noted that the two nations have several investments in common, including Zambia’s Copperbelt Energy Corporation and Nigeria’s Dangote Cement Limited, both of which have operations there.

He made the point that his Ministry is prepared to provide legislative reforms for foreign nationals who want to invest in Zambia, which he described as a peaceful country.

And Mr. OMONYI EZE stated that Zambia and Nigeria have historically collaborated and remain dedicated to resolving the socioeconomic issues the two countries are currently facing.
