By the second quarter of 2019, GreenCo Power Services, a British business, expects to begin supplying 25 megawatts of electricity to the national grid from its solar plant in Western Province’s Sesheke District.
Construction on the project is anticipated to begin in four months, according to WEZI GONDWE, business development manager for the company.
According to Mr. GONDWE, feasibility studies have been completed and the Sesheke site has the necessary irradiance characteristics to permit the production of solar energy.
He claimed that the Ilute Solar Project will aid in bridging the nation’s existing energy gap.
The Project and other related renewable energy initiatives in Zambia will be implemented thanks to funding raised by the British company, according to GreenCo Power Services Company Secretary BRIAN MWANZA.
According to Mr. MWANZA, a number of financiers have pledged their financial support to ensure the project’s success.
Seven British companies, including GreenCo Power Services, are establishing solar and wind projects in Zambia to generate 2000 megawatts of power at an estimated cost of $2 billion.
