The President claims that because the Copperbelt is the foundation of the Zambian economy, the state of the economy there worries the entire nation.

Last night at the Kabelenga Presidential Lodge in NDOLA, President HICHILEMA spoke to mine unions, suppliers, and contractors before inviting them to a closed-door meeting.

The President stated that efforts are being made by the administration to guarantee that problems impacting the Copperbelt mining are resolved.

Mr. HICHILEMA stated that one of the ways the administration is working to improve individuals’ lives is by resolving issues in the mines.

Meanwhile, across the Copperbelt, mining unions, contractors, and suppliers have vowed to collaborate with the government to address issues relating to the mining industry.

President of the Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ), Joseph CHEWE, pleaded with the government to include the unions in discussions regarding mine-related issues.

Moreover, SAUL SIMUJIIKA, president of the National Union of Miners and Allied Workers (NUMAW), expressed optimism that the problems with the mines on the Copperbelt will soon be resolved.

A spokesperson representing the suppliers, BWALYA MUKONKA, stated that after meeting with the head of state, they are more certain that the problems would be solved.
