To address the current power generation issues at the Kariba North Bank power facility, President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has asked for coordinated bilateral meetings with his Zimbabwean colleague EMMERSON MNANGAGWA.
According to President HICHILEMA, the two nations must act quickly to ensure appropriate management of the Kariba Dam in order to address the current energy crisis.
The Head of State continues, saying that cooperating with his colleague in Zimbabwe does not include engaging in bilateral disputes but rather addressing the governing structures’ flaws.
At a State House meeting with the taskforce formed to identify answers to the present energy situation, President HICHILEMA was addressing.
The President claimed that the Zambezi River Authority’s poor management of the water allotment to the two countries was an open secret.
According to President HICHILEMA, if certain steps had been in place thirty to forty years ago, Zambia’s current problems would have been resolved.
The head of state promised that during the next five years, long-term solutions to these issues will be found in Zambia.
