HH: The Key To Security Is Food Security

Food security, according to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, is crucial to regional, national, and international security.

This, according to President HICHILEMA, is due to the connection between food shortages and instability on a global and national scale.

According to the Head of State, this is why the government has given enhancing food production, processing, and export a high priority.

At the present EARTHNA SUMMIT in Doha, Qatar, which is being hosted by the Qatar Foundation in collaboration with the Commonwealth, President HICHILEMA was addressing during a High Level session.

Also, President HICHILEMA urged people to adopt traditional and indigenous farming practices, saying that doing so can help to lessen the adverse effects of climate change.

Moreover, Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland stated during a speech at the same event that indigenous farming practices must be incorporated into agricultural technology growth.

Ms. Scotland added that there must be coordinated measures to combat the global threat that food insecurity poses to human life.
