By-election voting has begun in the Serenje, Lupososhi, and Chililabombwe Districts.
Elections are being held in the wards of Chitimukulu, Katilye, and Muchinda.
Voting in Chitimukulu ward in Chililabombwe on the Copperbelt was marked by lengthy lines, with people lining up as early as 5:00 in the morning.
At precisely 6:00 a.m., presiding officer KABA KUNDA proclaimed the Mine Workers Union of Zambia-MUZ polling place open.
Leon Chitumbo, the presiding officer, also declared the Kwacha Pentecostal Church polling place open at precisely 6:00 a.m.
Since UPND councilor MAUREEN BWALYA passed away, the Chitimukulu ward by election has been vacant.
The ward election is being contested by six candidates.
