A 35-year-old Kapiri-Mposhi woman’s husband has been detained by police in connection with her passing.
Esther Shantungwani was discovered dead in mysterious circumstances with chitenge material tied around her neck and on a pole to suggest that she had killed herself.
However, a closer look at the body revealed that she had bruises all over her body, including her neck.
According to Central Province Police Commissioner David Chileshe, who verified the occurrence to Mwebantu, the tragic incident took place between 5:00 and 6:00 AM yesterday.
According to him, her spouse was later arrested in connection with her death and is currently being questioned.
“A 35 year old woman identified as Ms Esther Shantungwani of Kachenje area died in unclear circumstances after she was found lying down dead in a grass thatched kitchen shelter outside her house with a chitenge material tied to a pole depicting that she had committed suicide. However, after inspection, the body had bruises on the neck. The husband to the deceased has been detained in connection with the death. The body of the deceased is lying in Kapiri Urban Clinic Mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.
