Kasanga advises FIC board to fight political influence

FORMER Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) board chairman John Kasanga has advised the newly appointed FIC board to be protective of the institution regardless of who tries to interfere with its work from the executive.

Last Friday, President Hakainde Hichilema appointed a new FIC Board consisting of Dinde Simacheche as Board Chairperson, Sydney Chisenga as Vice Chairperson, as well as, Emmanuel Sakala, Augustine Hamwela and Diana Bunting as members.

Commenting on the appointments in an interview, Kasanga observed that board members may in some cases feel a sense of loyalty to the political executive, but urged them to rise above that. “Financial intelligence gathering is a sensitive matter and it in most cases affects high level political executives and in some.

In other news – Police arrest Katuta for assaulting, spitting on a journalist

Chiengi Member of Parliament, Given Katuta, has been apprehended by the police on charges of Common Assault, according to a statement by Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.
