On Sunday morning, 5 November, tweeps took to social media platform X, known as Twitter and posted that actor Lindani Nkosi had died.

Twitter users reacted to the posts in disbelief.

Mzansi Magic has since disputed the rumours.

They said they are aware of the horrible rumour making the rounds on social media alleging that Lindani, who plays Mshengu on My Brother’s Keeper, has passed on.

“Please note that this is not true, and we urge you not to be part of spreading this lie,” Mzansi Magic said.

M-Net PR and Publicity Specialist Irvin Pooe confirmed to the publication that the rumours about Lindani’s death are untrue.

“He is alive and well. He was shooting yesterday. It seems like his character died on another soapie,” said Pooe.

The South African actor was born on 5 March 1986 and is known for portraying Lincoln Sibeko in the soap opera Isidingo.

He also portrayed Nelson Mandela in the 2004 film Drum and has been the puppeteer of Moshe, the giant meerkat from the hit South African children’s show Takalani Sesame (a co-production of the American series Sesame Street) since the series debuted in 2000.

The musical performer, dancer, and voice-over artist is also best known for his role as Thulani in the SABC1 soapie Generations.

Other local television series he has acted in include the SABC3 drama series The Lab and the guest starring role of Mannie in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

According to South Africa’s TV website, the actor won the 2006 Naledi Award for Best Performance in a Musical (Male) for his role in Ain’t Misbehavin’.
