In the Lundazi district of the Eastern province, six mobile money agents were defrauded of K48,000.
Two of the clients conned the agents into putting together some money that they intended to deliver to pals.
LIMPO LIYWALII, the Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, verified the arrest of two individuals, THOMAS MVULA and LAWRENCE PHIRI, both of Lundazi.
The suspects instructed the six mobile money brokers to raise roughly 60,000 Kwacha, but they only succeeded in raising 48,000, according to Mr. LIYWALII.
Last Saturday, the two suspects’ mobile money accounts were supposed to receive the funds.
He has also stated that the money was removed before the transaction could be finalized, which was later discovered by the agents.
